Description: Manufactured in the year Omega’s were first worn on the moon, and sold in 1973 on a cruise ship sailing from Australia, this Omega Genève is an example of the understated quality of the company. Using their calibre 552, finished to what they referred to as their 1st quality (chronometer standard without being certified as such) this movement is considered by many as the finest series of movements Omega have ever made, which is saying something! Recently overhauled and regulated it’s running like a charm, and carries our full 12month guarantee. As with all our watches, genuine parts have been used to complete the restoration, including the glass (which carries the faint central Ω) and crown.
Genève were Omega’s line of non-specific watches. Whereas Speedmaster were chronographs, Seamaster had higher water resistance, Constellation are all Chronometers, and De Ville were dress watches, Genève covered the no-man’s land in the middle. From entry level “starter” watches to design classics like the Dynamic, and fitted with their full range of qualities of movement, they were designed as the range to suit every man and every budget. This watch is a perfect example of this. A classic, uncomplicated and even simple design, executed to the highest standard and containing one of their very best quality movements.
This watch still has its original box and guarantee booklet, a rarity for a watch that’s near fifty. It has been fitted to an aftermarket British Racing Green calf leather strap, something a little different but it looks great. We will, of course, change it to anything you might prefer prior to delivery.
